‘Make Music Now’ aims to guide participants in discovering positive, alternative extra-curricular activities, building confidence and self-esteem through music without traveling to other communities. ‘Make Music Now’ offers a supportive and positive environment weekly for members to express themselves creatively while enhancing arts and culture in the community.
‘Make Music Now’ would not be possible without the support and dedication of the community itself and local businesses: Port Renfrew Resorts, Big Fish Lodge, Port Renfrew BeachHouse, Island Return-It and Long & McQuade.
Tall Tree Festival Society was established in 2010 with a mandate to help promote cultural growth through arts, festivals, and community events and initiatives. Since 2009 The Society has established and maintained two music festivals (Song and Surf and Tall Tree Music Festival) that take place in the San Juan Valley in the remote, under served communities of Pacheedaht (First Nation) and Port Renfrew. A primary goal of these events is providing a platform for emerging artists on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and Canada and inspiring a passion for music, creativity, and community. Along with the music program Tall Tree has also worked with community members to revitalize the local hiking trail system, worked with Outward Bound Canada with their community programs and have supported our friends at The Ancient Forest Alliance with their efforts for tall tree justice.
We will be taking instrument donations at Tall Tree Music Festival in 2016. If you have anything you would like to donate and cannot attend either event, please send us a message on Facebook!
